1612-19/1139/01: GNLU signs MoU with Tata Institute of Social Sciences for academic collaboration

Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on December 11, 2019.

The MoU will promote academic collaboration between two institutions, and facilitate student exchange; faculty exchange for teaching and research; collaborative research and publication; organizing joint training programmes, conference, seminars, symposia, and workshops; and developing other mutually beneficial programs. Besides, PhD scholars of both institutions will now have access to library and faculty resources of each other.

The MoU will be valid initially for a period of five years and this term can be extended by mutual agreement.

The MoU was signed by Mr M. P. Balamurugan, Acting Registrar on behalf of TISS and Dr Jagadeesh Chandra, Registrar (I/c) on behalf of GNLU. On this occasion, Prof. Shalini Bharat, Director, TISS, Prof. Sanjeevi Shanthakumar, Director GNLU, Prof. Arvind Tiwary, Dean, School of Law, Rights and Constitutional Governance, TISS and other faculty members were also present.

Expressing delight over the MoU, GNLU Director Dr S. Shanthakumar said, “we believe that synergies can be created with increased collaboration among academia. TISS is one of the finest academic institutions in our country with some exceptional teachers and researchers. I am sure the MoU between GNLU and TISS will lead to increased collaboration benefiting the students and faculty of both the institutions.”
